The wisdom of a child would dictate that those personal flaws be embraced rather than cause alarm, as these are often the flaws that support each individual’s character and personality, without which we would be lost in a sea of sameness. But when a string of falsities and self-abuses, following the means of self-disgust, substantiates a plot to degrade them to mental dismemberment, it is their right, it is their duty to rid themselves of such views, and to prevent such mental anguish from hampering their future. Such has been the suffering of those whose own humility has infringed upon their rights; and such is now the obligation which compels them to remove the shackles of an inadequate self-esteem. The history of self-degradation is a long history of self-injury, purposeless in and of itself, used only to destroy the mental foundation on which all stand. As proof, let the truth of self-doubt be submitted, to a world of self-mutilators.
It has forced upon us a thought-process, consisting of
false negative remarks, circling our opinions back to our own inadequacy.
It has dissolved our child-like innocence and brought
about the destruction of the impulsive decisions that once littered our fondest
childhood memories.
It has placed in our mind an erroneous idea of our
physical appearance that decimates our self-confidence and directs our
attentions towards self-loathing.
It has coerced us to hide our true emotions behind a
fake smile, masking our true personality.
It has declared our talents insufficient, and our
abilities lacking, leaving us with the belief that we are nothing more than
mundane, rather than the successes we could be.
It has presented us with such atrocities as racism,
sexism, and victimization, due to the need of some form of superiority.
In every abuse and transgression of these rights, our
friends have fought for us against the oppression of our own humility; their
radiant praise has been accepted only when followed by a spiteful comment from
our own minds.
A quality whose guile is thus exemplified by the
devastation it causes in those who possess it and its ability to manipulate its
possessor’s actions is wholly unqualified for existence in the human mind.
We have lacked the constitution necessary to expunge
this notion from our thoughts. Its very existence has stolen the confidence
needed to rid ourselves of its presence. We have appealed to the significance
of humility in hopes of discovering a balance between humility and total
self-doubt. Yet our own minds have been deaf to these appeals, and in our
necessity do we acknowledge our final option. With no choice remaining do we
take up mental arms against the tyrant that is insecurity.
Therefore, we, the victims of self-loathing united as
we are, appealing to the judgment of those who know us best, do in the name of
all future self-confidence, and by the authority of our own minds declare that
the minds of all persons are free from the degradation of self-hatred; that
they shall disband all ties to negativity; that they are free to pursue dreams
and hopes once lost; that they have attained and will preserve their rights to
self-confidence.
And for the support of this declaration, with a firm
reliance on the strength of our own minds, we pledge to each other our support,
our lives, and our eternal commitment to the well-being of ourselves and
others.
